Exerice breakdown, Week 13: Thoracic spine/ribs/glutes/hamstring superset
Ever find yourself feeling a bit cranky or stuck in a rut? The culprit might just be a lack of movement in your pelvis and lumbar spine. These regions of your body are like the epicenter of mobility, and when you let them play, it can have a profound impact on your mood and overall well-being.
How to Do It:
Move the Pelvis Around a Fixed Ribcage:
- Attach a band around your shoulder, and around the same leg
- From here lay down on the floor
- Keep your upper back on the floor and start performing the movement shown on the video
- 8 reps followed by 8 hamstring lockouts
From there, Move the Ribcage Around a Fixed Pelvis:
- Keep the band attached in the same way
- Use another band or cable machine for the opposite side
- Pull & reach and enjoy the gains
Improved Mood:
Conscious movement stimulates the release of endorphins, those feel-good hormones that can instantly lift your spirits.
Enhanced Flexibility:
Regularly moving your pelvis and lumbar spine promotes flexibility, reducing stiffness and discomfort.
Stress Reduction:
Movement is a powerful stress-buster. It helps release tension, allowing you to navigate daily challenges with greater ease.
Mind-Body Connection:
Connecting with your body through intentional movement fosters a deeper understanding of how it feels and what it needs.
Incorporating Movement Into Your Routine:
Daily Check-In: Take a few minutes each day to consciously move your pelvis and lumbar spine. It can be a part of your morning routine or a midday pick-me-up.
Desk Breaks: If you have a sedentary job, schedule short breaks to stretch and move. Your body will thank you.
Mindful Exercise: Incorporate exercises that involve pelvic and lumbar spine movement into your workout routine. Yoga and Pilates are excellent choices.
Conclusion:
Feeling cranky? It might just be your body asking for a little movement. By consciously allowing your pelvis and lumbar spine to dance around a fixed point, you not only enhance your physical well-being but also uplift your mood.
Give it a try and let the rhythm of movement bring a positive vibe to your day!
